About theTanzania Food and Nutrition Centre and its efforts to reduce anaemia

TFNC, as the technical arm of the Government under the Ministry of Health, leads the national response to nutrition. It coordinates efforts across sectors, advocates for resources, promotes financing alignment, and provides guidance and support to implementing agencies while monitoring progress on anaemia.

Addressing anaemia is crucial, as it delivers profound benefits not only for individuals but also for communities and national health. By tackling this issue, we can enhance economic productivity, promote social equity, and drive societal development. The ripple effects of reducing anaemia extend far and wide, making it a vital priority for a healthier and more prosperous future.

How our organization is tackling anaemia?

TFNC is engaged in the development and publication of guidance, provision of technical support, and analysis of nutrition and well-being data. The organization disseminates policy briefs and technical documents while offering educational materials and resources. Furthermore, TFNC collaborates with partners to ensure that efforts are effectively coordinated and aligned. The organization also provides assistance with the translation of guidelines and addresses inquiries related to the guidelines and data.

What our organization can offer?

Addressing complex challenges like anaemia is more effective when approached from multiple perspectives. The Alliance brings together diverse viewpoints and solutions, allowing members to share resources and expertise. By collaborating, we can enhance our efforts to reduce anaemia, achieving greater results than any single organization or initiative could accomplish alone.

TFNC plays a crucial role in convening and setting standards as part of the national response to nutrition, and we can only succeed through collaboration with countries and partners. TFNC is committed to coordinating the collection and analysis of data on anaemia prevalence, causes, and risk factors through national health assessments. It focuses on identifying direct causes and underlying risk factors, advocating for gender-specific interventions.
